Scotland eventually posted a massive total of 268/7 in their quota of 50 overs. Ireland suffered a mini collapse as they lost their next three wickets for just 29 runs, bringing a twist in Scotland’s favour. Jane Maguire joined Laura Delany at the crease, and the pair settled the nerves with a crucial 53-run partnership for the 8th wicket, taking Ireland on the brink of a memorable win.
Ireland eventually clinched the game by one wicket on the final ball of the run chase. Skipper Gaby Lewis (61 off 72 balls) completed an impressive half-century, while Laura Delany (57* off 63 balls) stayed unbeaten on her brisk half-century to guide her side over the line in a tense contest. Jane Maguire (28 off 24 balls) chipped in with a vital contribution with the bat for Ireland.
